Six Degrees of Separation

The Six Degrees of Separation is a concept that most people would think to be impossible, that two people could possibly be connected with each other in some way by 5 other random people. It is possible, but some certain circumstances have to come into consideration.

Our group decided to use the social network Facebook as a medium for proving the claim on Six Degrees of Separation. We were able to connect our subject to the 6th person by sifting and choosing through random mutual friends. We would first choose a mutual friend of that subject, then a mutual friend of the 2nd contact, and so on and so forth, until the moment that we arrive at the 6th contact. Then at that point, we ask the 6th subject if he/she has any relation to our subject, and to our luck he/she did.

This system proves that the Six Degrees of Separation claim is plausible, but it is still not entirely possible, especially in some cases. At times, it would could take more than 6 links or actually even less to connect two people with one another.
